A l’occasion de la publication de son livre Mon journal du monde, le professeur à l’Université Paris Dauphine, Philippe Chalmin, spécialiste des matières premières, analyse le secteur de l’énergie pour le journal La Dépêche. Selon lui, alors que les énergies renouvelables ne seront rentables qu’à la fin du siècle, l’atome reste une énergie verte par excellence tandis que le gaz de schiste est une solution à ne pas écarter.
Interrogé à l’occasion de la sortie de son livre prévue le 15 novembre prochain, le spécialiste des matières premières Philippe Chalmin souligne l’importance de la transition énergétique. Tout en rappelant que le développement des énergies renouvelables n’est actuellement possible « que grâce à un soutien massif des pouvoirs publics », à l’exception notable de l’éolien on shore.
C’est pourquoi, afin d’assurer un développement responsable – avec de moindres émissions de CO2 -, il assure que l’énergie nucléaire est « l’énergie verte par excellence ». En rappelant son importance au sein du mix énergétique tricolore, il confirme son rôle stratégique pour « sortir de la dépendance au pétrole et au charbon », deux énergies qui assurent encore « les deux tiers de la consommation d’énergie sur la planète ».
Face à cette réalité, il affirme également que le gaz naturel doit permettre de faire la transition entre les énergies fossiles les plus polluantes et les ENR. Pour cela, il estime qu’il va falloir « se reposer la question du gaz de schiste » en France. En effet, explique-t-il enfin, « à la fin du siècle il restera du charbon mais je compte sur la sagesse de l’Homme pour qu’on ne l’utilise pas ».
