Le groupe pétrolier français va revenir en Iran avec notamment l’intention de diriger le projet de développement de la phase 11 du champ gazier de South Pars. Total a effectivement indiqué qu’il avait déjà signé un protocole d’accord avec la compagnie nationale iranienne, information confirmée par le ministère du Pétrole.

Interrogé lundi au sujet de ce chantier, le PDG de Total, Patrick Pouyanné, avait déclaré que « nous avons un intérêt pour l’Iran, nous avons développé dans le passé des phases de South Pars et nous avons naturellement engagé des discussions sur le sujet. Je serais heureux que Total soit la première compagnie occidentale à signer un accord avec l’Iran ». Aujourd’hui, l’information est confirmée par l’entreprise française comme par les autorités locales, même si le ministère précise que « la signature d’un accord final pourrait prendre encore six mois ».

Le scénario envisagé actuellement permettrait à Total d’obtenir 50,1 % des parts, tandis que CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation) en détiendrait 30 %, et que la compagnie iranienne Petropars en possèderait 19,9 %. Le développement de la phase 11 est par ailleurs prévu en deux étapes ; la première prévoit des constructions estimées à 2 milliards de dollars (2 plateformes et 30 puits), pour produire ensuite 370.000 barils équivalent pétrole par jour.

Alors que le magazine Challenges souligne que cette entente a été passée de gré à gré, la journaliste des Echos Anne Feitz rappelle que d’autres appels d’offres sont en cours jusqu’au 17 novembre, les projets retenus devant être connus le 7 décembre. Enfin, même si ce premier partenariat ne préfigure pas des résultats des futurs contrats, le PDG français Patrick Pouyanné paraissait néanmoins confiant pour affirmer que « l’Iran pourrait devenir demain un de nos grands pays. Au même titre que la Russie, Abu Dhabi, le Qatar, l’Angola, le Nigéria et la Norvège ».
