Le directeur de l’exploration-production du géant pétrolier français, Arnaud Breuillac, veut adapter l’entreprise à un environnement économique à 50 dollars le barril. Bien positionné par rapport à ses concurrents, Total continue de regorger d’idées pour faire des économies sur ses exploitations.
En partant à la chasse aux coûts, la major pétrolière tricolore espère économiser 2,4 milliards d’euros en 2016. Cette stratégie de réduction des dépenses est d’ailleurs partagée par la majorité des acteurs du secteur (BP, ExxonMobil, ENI, StatOil…) depuis la chute des cours mondiaux. Toutefois, l’analyste financier chez Natixis, Baptiste Lebacq, assure que « le groupe Total fait partie des cours élevés car il est parti avec une longueur d’avance ».
Ainsi, le directeur de l’exploration-production, Arnaud Breuillac, explique avoir décidé de revoir l’architecture des projets « en intervenant dès la conception [des projets], on peut gagner en moyenne entre 10 et 15 % ». Avec l’exemple du champ pétrolifère ultra profond de Zinia 2, au large des côtes angolaises, les équipes de maintenance ont été mutualisées, tandis que l’entreprise n’utilise plus que 6 hélicoptères au lieu de 12 en Afrique de l’Ouest.
Toutefois, Total avait prévu de réaliser 3 milliards d’euros d’économie en 2017. Or, actuellement, l’énergéticien prévoit d’atteindre les 2,4 milliards d’euros d’ici la fin 2016. Pour y parvenir, il devra encore approfondir ses réflexions même si Arnaud Breuillac précise que « toutes les bonnes idées, pour la plupart venue des opérationnels, sont systématisées ».
