Depuis la reprise du pôle énergie d’Alstom, General Electric emploie approximativement 100 000 salariés en Europe. Mais alors que l’entreprise se présente comme « une référence mondiale du management », une grève est prévue vendredi 8 septembre pour protester contre son plan de restructuration.
C’était il y a un an à peine. Après de longs mois de tractations, General Electric obtenait finalement le contrôle du pôle énergie d’Alstom en novembre dernier pour 9,7 milliards d’euros. Aujourd’hui, l’entreprise américaine cherche à réduire ses effectifs, alors qu’elle embauche 14 500 personnes en France – dont 8 000 ex-Alstom.
Pour protester contre le plan de restructuration annoncé par le groupe en janvier dernier, plusieurs syndicats européens ont appelé à un rassemblement unitaire sur le parvis de la Défense, près de Paris, vendredi 8 septembre à 13 heurs. Certains ont déjà confirmé leur participation : IG Metal (Allemagne), Unite (Royaume-Uni), UNIA (Suisse)… Pourtant, selon un porte-parole du groupe : « On ne restructure pas pour le plaisir » mais il y a « la nécessité de rendre de la compétitivité » aux activités de l’ex-Alstom.
De son côté, l’intersyndicale française (CFDT, CGT, CFE-CGC) estime que l’objectif vise avant tout à « réaliser une économie de trois milliards d’euros » et rappelle que Jeffrey Immelt s’était engagé à créer 1 000 emplois en trois ans. Au total, 6 500 postes pourraient être supprimés, dont 1 700 en Allemagne, 1 300 en Suisse, 500 au Royaume-Uni et environ 765 en France au cours des deux prochaines années.
