Alors que, d’après l’agence Reuters, Areva aurait entamé des négociations avec le premier producteur mondial d’uranium, Kazatomprom, selon BFM Business, la société kazakhe pourrait formuler une offre d’investissement le 22 octobre prochain.

Citant une porte-parole du secrétariat français à l’Industrie, le groupe mondial d’information financière, Thomson Reuters, évoque des négociations entre Areva et Kazatomprom. En effet, à Bercy, on « confirme qu’Areva discute avec les Kazakhs, comme avec tous les investisseurs qui lui font part de marques d’intérêt ». Si l’énergéticien tricolore n’a pas souhaité s’exprimer sur le sujet, le titre gagnait 2,94 % en Bourse à la mi-journée, précise le journaliste Dominique Rodriguez.

Toutefois, d’après cette même source ministérielle, il est « plus que prématuré de conclure quoi que ce soit » et « toutes les offres seront regardées ». BFM Business indique justement qu’une offre d’investissement devrait être formulée le 22 octobre prochain.

Selon une source de la délégation kazakhe souhaitant conserver l’anonymat, « les discussions portent vraisemblablement sur le rachat des 51 % d’Areva dans Katco ». Pour mémoire, cette joint-venture a été créée en 1996 afin d’exploiter les gisements d’uranium des mines de Muyunkum et Tortkuduk. Aujourd’hui ceux-ci sont pourtant considérés comme « les plus rentables du groupe », surtout si on les compare à ceux d’Uramin, la compagnie achetée à perte par Anne Lauvergeon, ancienne directrice d’Areva, par l’intermédiaire de son « mari gênant », Olivier Fric.

De son côté, le journaliste au service industrie des Echos, Pierre Demoux, précise que l’entreprise doit être recapitalisée début 2017 et que Bruxelles oblige l’Etat français à trouver des partenaires pour valider la restructuration. D’autres groupes, tels que la China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) et le Japonais Mitsubishi Heavy Indutries (MHI), pourraient également prendre part à l’opération.
