Dans le cadre de sa stratégie CAP 2030, l’électricien français souhaite se développer à l’international, notamment dans le secteur des énergies renouvelables. Pour ce faire, le délégué général d’EDF Energies Nouvelles, Antoine Cahuzac, vient d’annoncer son intention d’investir 2 milliards de dollars afin de construire des éoliennes en Inde.
D’après les estimations du Fonds Monétaire International pour 2016, l’Inde est le pays avec la plus forte croissance (+7,4 % du PIB), devant la Chine et l’Indonésie. Malgré ce dynamisme économique, « 300 millions d’Indiens n’ont toujours pas accès à l’électricité ». Aussi, le premier électricien d’Europe a annoncé la création de la co-entreprise Sitac Wind Management and Development, lors de la visite de François Hollande dans le pays au début de l’année, pour remédier à cette situation.
A présent, la structure, qui avait pour objectif d’installer 142 mégawatts de capacité éolienne d’ici la fin 2016, souhaite accélérer son implantation. Ainsi, le DG d’EDF Energies Nouvelles a annoncé vouloir consacrer 2 milliards de dollars pour augmenter cette énergie verte. « Nous comptons investir des centaines de millions de dollars dans ce pays au cours des prochaines années. Notre objectif est que cette coentreprise dispose d’une puissance installée de 2 gigawatts (GW) d’ici cinq ans ».
Une annonce bien accueillie par le gouvernement de Naranda Modi qui souhaite également accroitre la part des ENR au sein du mix électectrique, jusqu’à 40 % d’ici 2030, avec 60 gigawatts d’énergie éolienne dès 2022. D’ailleurs, l’entreprise française pourrait également profiter de sa structure locale pour construire des fermes éoliennes en mer, au large des 7 500 km de côtes de la puissance asiatique. L’Union européenne et le Global Wind Energy Council ont déjà lancé un plan d’action dans cette perspective.
